The Republic of Lostisland has claims over the uninhabited Hunter Island (South Pacific). This claim became possible after Dr Ilya Pakhomov, a Russian economist who became the Lord Rector of the National University of the Republic of Lostisland, discovered that de-jure this remoted piece of land remain unclaimed since the disestablishment of the New Hebrides Condominium. The Hunter Island was not given away when the Republic of Vanuatu was established, and thus became unclaimed. France, which also had claims over the island, withdrawed them in 2007.
The Hunter Island was discovered in 1798 is, by various sources, from 0,7 to 1,6 km² and is headed by a peak, which is 177 meter high. The island has volcanic origin, and the latest known eruption occured in 1956. The island is covered with grassland, scrub, woods and trees.
In 2011, the Captains Regent of Lostisland the northern part of the Hunter Island (which is the most volcanicly active) as a Volcanological National Reserve. The Republic of Lostisland is promosing to preserve the unique ecological system of the Hunter Island, its environment and image.
